I'd like to say that I am doing a good job in waiting for the woman God wants me to marry. I think about how she is going to be passionate for God, how she is going to be kind and gentle and how her hair is always going to be blowing in the wind. I guess that's what has kept me from dating or pursuing any relationships in the past. I was waiting for her. Someday, I would meet this girl and God would say, "yes Jordan, she is the one." I would pursue her and then have the ultimate marriage.

Something has recently sparked massive debate at Redeemer. In a video entitled, "Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus,” Jeff Bethke condemns religious practice among believers and calls people to focus on Jesus instead. The video has gone viral, earning almost 7 million views. I started noticing it popping up on Facebook recently, especially with my Redeemer friends; however, the reviews haven’t all been positive.

Picture this for a second. It is next week. Classes are going as usual. You are in your house with a couple others and are enjoying a nice lunch. You are talking about the movie you saw last night. There is a knock at the door. When your friend answers it, the house is swarmed by men with guns and masks. They knock you to the floor and continue kicking you while you writhe around, trying to escape the blows. You are pulled upright, choking on your blood and forced into the bathroom.

On December 15, 2010, parliament shot down bill C-510 by a vote of 178 to 97. Ever since it was tabled by Rod Bruinoge on April 14, 2010, the bill encountered fierce opposition by the pro-choice movement until it was finally defeated in its second reading. So what was this bill that would warrant such animosity by the pro-choicers? Was it a ban on government funding to abortion clinics? Was it a bill retracting a woman's ability to have an abortion? Not even close.

I recently heard someone talking about King David of the Bible. The individual read David's emotional poetry and made a comment that he was "in touch with his feminine side." While I can appreciate the point he was trying to make, I was a bit irked by the way he put it. I myself enjoy poetry and love songs, and I dream that I will save the life of the girl I will someday marry. Never, however, have I pictured either myself OR King David as feminine. There was certainly something wrong with the phrase "in touch with his feminine side."
