Beep ... beep ... beep. Our alarms sounded at 5:30 a.m. Bright and early in the morning, we boarded trains or buses to get to Toronto and join the morning rush-hour subway traffic. You are probably wondering where in the world, or in this case, where in Toronto, were we headed that early Tuesday morning in February (right at the beginning of Reading Break, I might add). I will provide you with some hints.

Annuit Coeptis. "The Lord has favoured us!" This is the conviction of His Majesty’s Christian School in Asmankese, Ghana. Found in the Eastern region of Ghana, His Majesty’s Christian School has been created and built to serve and educate the people of Ghana so that they have the opportunity of education through the Christian lens. Along with EduDeo, the school has been founded by Redeemer’s very own, Dr. Mary Ashun and her husband.

It is finished. All of the early mornings, late nights, stacks of marking, long hours at school, creating engaging activities- it all ended on Friday December 9, 2011 at about 3:20 pm.

What an experience! Many of us were blessed to have been placed with teachers who were very supportive, and willing to share and generous with resources.

Plan lesson... eat... sleep... teach... breathe... repeat. Waking up in the middle of the night with an idea for a lesson the next day is now a reality for most of us education students, which, along with many other "teacher moments" have given us the opportunity to experience what it really means to eat, sleep, and breathe school.

Have you noticed groups of students walking down the hall, pulling out their hair and stressed already about their semester? Tables full of students in the cafeteria talking about their assignment due the next class? Do you see line-ups of glossy eyed students scrambling to get some java at Williams and get back to their long two hour classes about how to teach fractions? You are seeing the education students of the 2012 graduating class. Their class schedules are condensed into two months.
