An Awesome Auction Supporting Students in Schools
On Monday, November 3, the annual Redeemer event Hobbies for Hilltop raised $5, 740 in support of the University of Mkar in Nigeria, Africa. The event auctions off numerous donated items and services to support their sister school, formerly known as Hilltop University which faces many difficulties ranging from poor health care to economical and technical challenges.

This year pages of items were auctioned off. Fred Schat, Syd Hielema, and John Kreuger alone raised $1300 by bravely shaving off decade old moustaches and a well-loved ponytail. Fred Schat mournfully declares, “I wonder if my naked upper lip will ever be warm again and if my wife will relegate me to the couch!” Other items included guitar lessons, movie/dinner combos, a longboard, desserts, photo shoots, and curling with senate. Many sold for prices much higher than their base price.
If you missed it, be sure to come out next year. Hobbies for Hilltop is a great way to have fun with your friends and give to your neighbours at the same time.
