What? Senate is changing? Why yes, yes it is. Recently, Jessica Ramsay, your Activites Chair decided to step down from her position on Student Senate to venture outside of the Redeemer campus to lands unknown. Almost immediately after hearing this news, Paul DeWeerd, your President, embarked on his search for Redeemer's Next Top Activities Chair. The first step was to analyze Student Senate's Constitution. After reading said Constitution, it came to Paul's attention that there was no clear procedure for him to take. The Constitution states that in the event of a Senator stepping down from his/her position, the runner-up shall take their place. However, there was no runner up for Activities Chair last year. This created an issue. After numerous consultations with Dean Schat, Dean of Students, Paul figured out a solution. It was going to be intense (like camping).
In her final Redeemer words, Jessica Ramsay confessed to Paul that if anyone were to take her position, it had to be Triona Mills, a current member of Activities Committee. Little did she know, her final words would open up a whirlwind of change! Triona Mills, would excitedly take up Jessica's flame and become Redeemer's Next Top Activities Chair but in the process she would leave her position as Information Officer on Senate behind. Paul knew he had to find the next Information Officer...and fast! So it came down to the First-Year Senators: Kara-Joy White, Craig Neely and Katelyn Borgdorff. But which one to choose? Well after careful consideration and interviewing, it was decided that Craig Neely would take Triona's place as Information Officer. But wait! Who would become the next First-Year Senator to fill the void Craig now created? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nay! It's Maha Assaf! Yes, Maha Assaf, the runner up for a First-Year Senator position was chosen to carry out the last of Craig's duties in second semester. So to end our tale of epic proportions, we just want to say, thank you Redeemer for your continuous support and confidence in your changing Student Senate. And remember, Student Senate: Hearing the voice, making the choice
